Muhajir (Urduمہاجر‎,Arabicمهاجر‎) is an Arabic term used in Pakistan to describe the mostly Urdu-speaking Muslim refugees, and their descendants, who migrated from India and settled in Pakistan after the partition of India in 1947. Despite different origins, these groups have been formed together in the Sindh region and use Urdu as their mother tongue. They are generally known as Urdu-speakers.
